Traù

"Traù (Locanda Pastore; Ristorante al Cervo, both unpretending; Café Marina on the canal), Slav. Trogir, a town of 3500 inhab. on an island in the Canale di Traù, still quite medieval in apparence. Almost unique is the Piazza dei Signori with the *CATHEDRAL. [...] Opposite to the cathedral, to the S., is the Loggia, with antique columns, presenting a perfcect example of a public court of justice of the Venetian period. To the E. is the Opcina or town-hall, restored in 1899. - A bridge connects Traù with the suburb of Bua on the island of that name. - To the W. rises the old fort Camerlengo, with a large tower, one of the finest relics of the Venetian period in its- Dalmatia (1424)" (p.300).
